This article from Forbes blew my mind. Apparently, younger consumers are ditching Google in favor of social media.
This article from Forbes shows 35% of millennials and 46% of Gen Z prefer social media over Google for search. Now, this hasn’t really bled into local services yet. 66% of Gen Z still uses Google, but I want to know where the other one in three young consumers are going.
And that’s the question you need to be asking. I can tell you where they won’t be. Facebook. Whereas every other generation has 70% plus usage of Facebook, Gen Z has completely abandoned that platform.
Look, I’m not telling you to abandon Facebook or aim all your marketing at 18 to 25-year-olds, but think outside the box.
Run ads on YouTube. Start a DIY TikTok channel. And post plumbing fails on Instagram.
Put yourself where younger consumers are before your competitors.
