Google Giveth, and Google Taketh Away—Say Goodbye to Chat on Your Google Business Profile
The chat feature on your Google Business Profile is the latest casualty of Google’s endless changes.

Here’s What’s Happening:
📅 July 15th – Searchers will no longer be able to start new conversations with your business.
📅 July 31st – The chat feature will be completely disabled.
📅 Also Gone: Your chat and call history will disappear.

So, What’s Next?
It appears (and I stress—appears) that Google might be adding:

✅ SMS (texting) support
✅ WhatsApp chat to your Google Business Profile

I’m not sure how valuable WhatsApp will be in the contracting space, but SMS (aka texting) could actually be an improvement over the disappearing chat feature.

The Big Question…
Will Google’s right hand talk to Google’s left hand and get SMS and WhatsApp in place before chat is sent to the dustbin of Google history?
