Are you a contractor running Google Ads but have really no idea how they work? Well, let’s give you a quick primer, starting with negative keywords.
Negative keywords are used to tell Google Ads which search terms are irrelevant to your paid search campaign.
For example, you’re an HVAC contractor and you want to make sure that you’re getting the right calls for air conditioning, but you don’t want calls for window unit air conditioning and certainly not vehicle air conditioning.
So, what your marketing agency would do is build a list of terms, a negative keyword list for Google to exclude. So, when someone searches for window unit AC or car AC, your Google ads are not shown.
This is Google Ads 101. And when I see an ad for an obvious negative keyword, I know that whoever’s doing their ads really doesn’t understand Google Ads or they’re really lazy.
And your business can’t afford stupid or lazy.
